We focus on improving attendance by creating a setting where pupils want to be—one that celebrates their strengths, recognises their challenges, and offers meaningful, engaging learning experiences. Through targeted teaching and intervention, we fill gaps in learning and ensure that each pupil can make progress at a pace and level that reflects their individual needs.
The Hive prepares learners for adulthood by building essential life skills, increasing confidence, and supporting the development of strong social and emotional competencies. Our curriculum blends academic learning with practical, therapeutic, and enrichment opportunities, offering a well-balanced alternative pathway for pupils who benefit from a more flexible and personalised approach.
Above all, The Hive is a safe, nurturing space where pupils can rebuild trust in education, develop positive relationships, and grow into resilient, capable young people ready for their next steps in life.
Who we are
Finch Woods Hive is an educational provision for young people of school age with an EHCP for social, emotional and mental health difficulties. It is targeted at children who cannot access a Finch Woods school place for whatever reason e.g. if the school is already at full capacity or if the school environment is unsuitable for the child.
Each pupil has an individualised plan and timetable for their education. This timetable is devised with the pupil and family and the child has access to 1:1 or small group tuition. We do this to give them the best opportunity to achieve in a setting that meets their needs.
